R Fundraising’s former employees will not be paid for their last month’s work, but the company says they will be fully recompensed by a government redundancy payment service scheme.

R Fundraising went into administration on Tuesday, making 99 employees redundant.

Of the 99 redundancies, only Gordon Michie (pictured), the former director of R Fundraising, was offered a position with Fundraising Initiatives Group.

Michie had worked at R Fundraising for over eight years prior to it going into administration.

Hamish Horton, group managing director of Fundraising Initiatives Group, said: “All staff regardless of level were treated equally and no exceptions were made, including those at Director level.”

He also made it clear that due to the agency going into administration, redundant staff are “covered by, and will be paid what they are owed through, the government’s redundancy payment service scheme”.

The scheme ensures that if an employee works for a company that becomes insolvent they can claim back money they are owed through a third party ‘insolvency practitioner’.

Civil Society News understands that all R Fundraising employees who were at work on Tuesday received redundancy claim forms while those who were not present will be sent them.

R Fundraising’s parent company, Fundraising Initiatives Group, announced that the agency had gone into administration and closed both its Dunfermline and Manchester offices on Tuesday.
