Mark Bishop, currently the director of fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, has announced that he will be joining the National Trust for Scotland in October.

Mark Bishop, currently the director of fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, has announced that he will be joining the National Trust for Scotland in October.

Bishop (pictured), who has been leading Prostate Cancer UK’s fundraising operations for the last six and a half years, will be taking up the role of head of development at the National Trust for Scotland and will be based in Edinburgh.

In the time that Bishop has been working at Prostate Cancer UK, the organisation’s total income has grown from £7m to £30m.

Prior to joining Prostate Cancer UK, Bishop was head of corporate fundraising at Leonard Cheshire Disability for five years. Before joining the voluntary sector, he worked with HarperCollins in publishing and in television with Sky.

Mark Bishop told Civil Society News: "My new role at the National Trust for Scotland offers a great opportunity to raise funds for a well-respected and important organisation. Being based in Edinburgh means that it's more than just a change in who I'm a part of, it's an exciting new city for my whole family too.

"I've loved the six and a half years I've had at Prostate Cancer UK: a really important cause and a fantastic charity that I'll continue to support in the future".

In its most recent set of accounts for 2014, the National Trust for Scotland had a total income of £49.1m and total expenditure of £46.5m, making it one of the largest charities in Scotland.
