Prince’s Trust drops Phillip Schofield as ambassador

31 May 2023 News

The Prince's Trust will no longer work with Phillip Schofield, in light of his “recent admissions”.

Schofield recently admitted he had an affair with a younger male colleague and lied to cover it. He issued a statement last Friday about the relationship and announced he was leaving ITV.

The Prince’s Trust’s mission is to help young people transform their lives by developing their confidence and skills.

Charity Commission data for the financial year ending 31 March 2022 puts its total income at around £80m.

In a statement, Schofield apologised for lying to hide the relationship with the younger employee, calling it “unwise but not illegal”.

ITV said it was “deeply disappointed by the admissions” made by Schofield and said it had cut all ties with the This Morning host.

Schofield was also dropped by his talent agency YMU.

A Prince’s Trust spokesperson said: “In light of Phillip’s recent admissions, we have agreed with him that it is no longer appropriate to work together.”

Schofield has not attended a Prince’s Trust event since 2019.
