Derbyshire police have recommended closing a fund set up in the name of six children of Mick and Mairead Philpott who died in a house fire in Derby in 2012.
The children died in 2012, and the couple were jailed for their manslaughter last year, along with a family friend, Paul Mosley.
The Catch Me When I Fall fund was set up to benefit children in the city immediately after the fire. Its name does not appear on the Register of Charities.
Police investigated the fund following allegations made by members of the public about how it was being run.
Derbyshire constabulary said it had questioned a man in connection with the fund but found no evidence of wrongdoing. However it advised no further money be collected.
"Police can confirm that a man connected with the Catch Me When I Fall fund has been questioned about allegations connected to the fund," Derbyshire constabulary said in a statement.
"The man was not arrested and co-operated with the thorough police inquiries. No charges have been brought against him as no evidence of wrongdoing was found.
"The man has been advised against further fundraising in the name of Duwayne, Jade, John, Jack, Jesse and Jayden Philpott.
"Fundraisers will now discuss what to do with the money in the account and will inform police when it is disbursed and who has benefited from it."
