Three historic parks have received a share of £9.3m in Parks for People funding, it has been announced today.

Three historic parks have received a share of £9.3m in Parks for People funding, it has been announced today.

Stage two of the grant scheme, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund, has been announced today. The Parks for People programme has funded £150m worth of projects over the 2006 – 2009 period, with Heritage Lottery Fund committed to continuing the grant scheme to the tune of £20m in 2010.

The Walsall Arboretum was the biggest winner from today’s grant round, receiving £4.57m, followed by the Lloyd and Aveling Park, Waltham Forest which received £3.48m and the Hillworth Park in Devizes which received £1.2m for restoration work.

The closing date for the next round of applications is 1 March, 2010. Check the Heritage Lottery Fund website for details.
