The Scout Association, Oxfam and the Hansard Society have launched a campaign to encourage young people to vote.

The online campaign, named Active Citizens: Virgin Voters, will target 10,000 scouts and young leaders who will be eligible to vote for the first time this year. The website features general information about voting, campaigning and volunteering.

Activecitizens.net is being unveiled at a special event in Nottingham to encourage youth participation in local and national political activity. The event, hosted by TSA in partnership with Oxfam GB and the Hansard Society, takes place on the 40th anniversary of the Bridgewater by-election - the first time 18-year-olds in the UK were able to vote.
