Over £6bn raised through JustGiving in two decades

09 Jun 2023 News

More than £6bn has been raised through JustGiving for good causes around the world since its establishment in 2000, the fundraising platform has announced.

To date, over 14.9 million fundraising pages have been created on JustGiving to support charitable causes.

The platform, which removed fees in March 2019, said that it has managed nearly 200 million donations from more than 180 countries since 2000.

High-profile campaigns

Some recent JustGiving campaigns include fundraising appeals for the war in Ukraine, which garnered £55m, and this year’s London Marathon, which raised £39m.

The fundraising campaign set up by the late Captain Sir Tom Moore in 2020 remains the largest individual-led online crowdfunding campaign in history, with more than £39m donated to NHS charities.

Meanwhile, £13m was donated in response to the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria while the late Deborah James’ Bowelbabe fund recently raised £11m.

‘Our fundraisers and crowdfunders are extraordinary’

Pascale Harvie, president and general manager of JustGiving, said: “The last few years have been really hard for a lot of people, the Covid-19 pandemic followed by a cost-of-living crisis has meant that people have been through and continue to cope with the toughest of times.

“Yet, despite this, people of all ages continue to take action and support the causes they love. Our fundraisers and crowdfunders are extraordinary and what they have collectively achieved to benefit more than 20,000 charities and causes in the last year alone is remarkable.”
