OSCR has taken action to stop an organisation offering alternative therapy falsely calling itself a “registered cancer charity” on employees’ business cards.

OSCR was provided with a business card in the name of Mr Peter Campbell referring to the Campbell’s Ozone Therapy Trust as a “registered cancer charity”.

OSCR found no organisation called Campbell’s Ozone Therapy Trust in the Scottish charity register. Consequently, OSCR found that Mr Campbell was misrepresenting his organisation as a charity.

This month, OSCR issued a direction requiring Campbell to stop representing the Campbell’s Ozone Therapy Trust as a charity registered in Scotland. Under the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, failure to comply with such an order can result in a fine of up to £5,000 and a maximum of six months in prison.

Ozone therapy is the administration of ozone to a patient through various methods for treatment of various health conditions.
