The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has opened a public consultation on its draft Corporate Plan 2011-14 offering the "opportunity to contribute to the development of charity regulation in Scotland".

Launched in 2006, OSCR is the Scottish equivalent of the Charity Commission, overseeing the activities of over 23,000 active charities with an approximate annual turnover of £8bn.

The draft plan includes amendments incorporating new equalities legislation and the introduction of Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisations, and proposes the introduction of online services for charities and enhanced information on the Scottish Charity Register.

Jane Ryder (pictured), OSCR chief executive said: "Over the past five years, we have developed a proportionate and transparent approach to regulation, aimed at improving understanding and compliance but balanced with making difficult decisions and taking robust action where necessary

"Moving forward, while OSCR’s core principles and values will remain unchanged, the time is right to review our strategic priorities to ensure that we are in a position to meet the new challenges, pressures and expectations ahead."

The consultation is open until 24 May 2011. Respondents should email their submissions and comments to [email protected] with ‘OSCR Corporate Plan 2011-14’ in the Subject box, or write to OSCR at the address shown in the consultation document.
