Charity shopping website, Easyfundraising has announced that it has raised £3m since it launched in 2005.

Charity shopping website, Easyfundraising has announced that it has raised £3m since it launched in 2005.

Easyfundraising says that it has experienced significant growth in the last year, raising £1m in the 12 month period. The company also gained 10,000 more users register with the site in that time - equivalent to a 34 per cent increase on the previous year.

When registered users go through the Easyfundraising website, to find a retailer, that retailer donates a small percentage to the user’s chosen cause. On average, users raise 5 per cent for their chosen cause but the exact amount depends on the retailer.

The company now raises money for more than 30,000 good causes, which includes charities, schools, sports clubs and scout groups. More than 2,000 retailers are signed up to the website including, Amazon, Marks and Spencer and Apple.

Last summer, rival online donations company Everyclick announced that it had hit the £2m mark. The philanthropic search engine launched six years ago and by January 2010 had raised £1m.
