Objector stalls Society Network Foundation's striking-off application

The striking-off application submitted to Companies House by Society Network Foundation has been stalled after an objection was filed with the regulator.

The parent charity of Big Society Network filed for winding up last month following a critical National Audit Office report sparked by a long-running investigation by Civil Society News into irregularities in statutory and lottery grants paid to the organisation.

But an objection has now been filed with Companies House, meaning the striking-off cannot proceed.

The document filed with Companies House does not disclose who objected to the application or why, though Companies House says that typically objections are lodged by people or organisations owed money by the company concerned.

The striking-off application will now be stalled for six months or until the objector withdraws its objection. After six months the striking-off process will start over.

The latest accounts filed by the charity showed it finished the year to 31 March 2013 with a deficit of £50,973.  However, the trustees recently said it was solvent.
