New foundation to fund self-harm awareness projects

A new Trust, the Wellness Fund Foundation, has been created to raise funds for charities that promote health and wellbeing.

It aims to tackle self-harm among young people, and as a result today’s launch had been timed to coincide with Global Self-Harm Awareness Day.

The Foundation will donate half of the funds it raises to charities which help those who self-harm and will use the other half to set up The Smart Love Co, an independent charity delivering e-learning courses on the topic in schools.

The organisation has been founded by Seonaid Mackenzie (pictured), the managing partner of start-up business consultancy Sturgeon Ventures.

It has been created up as a subsidiary of the Charities Aid Foundation in order to allow Mackenzie and others at the foundation to focus on the delivery of the message rather than administration.
