Members of NCVO will be invited to add a donation to the Charity Employees Benevolent Fund when they join or renew their membership each year.

The NCVO intends to amend its new and renewal membership forms online and paper to include an ask for a £12 donation to CEBF.  £12 is the suggested amount but members could decide to donate more or less, or just pay their membership fee.

NCVO chief executive Sir Stuart Etherington said that NCVO members had voted overwhelmingly for the establishment of the Fund and now that it is up and running the NCVO was keen to secure its sustainability.

“I call upon all our members to join us to offer support and funding.  If all our members donated a small sum – say as little as £12 per year – this would soon make a big difference.”

NCVO currently has over 8,000 members so a contribution of £12 each would generate nearly £100,000 a year for the CEBF.  Its chair David Prescott said the NCVO’s offer was great news.

The Fund now plans to approach other membership bodies in the sector to ask them to emulate the NCVO’s move.
