The Scottish Association for Mental Health has saved Angus Mental Health Association from closure through a merger.

Angus Mental Health Association (AMHA) hit the headlines last year when the loss of its contract to provide service locally meant if faced closing down.

A campaign by AMHA’s members and service-users led to talks with the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and brought about the merger.

Hector MacKenzie, a current SAMH trustee and retired senior civil servant, will chair the new AMHA board, and the Angus charity will retain its own board and identity.
