International humanitarian charity group Mercy Corps will change its name to Prosper Global, it announced this week.
Founded in the US in 1979 as Save the Refugees Fund, it rebranded as Mercy Corps in the early 1980s and registered its European charity arm in Scotland in 2000.
Mercy Corps Europe, which recorded an income of £174m in the year to June 2025, will change its name to Prosper Global in September, along with the rest of the charity group’s global network.
Announcing the change, the charity said its new name was informed by extensive research including a global staff survey with more than 1,300 respondents and a survey of 6,000 prospective donors.
Mercy Corps chief executive Tjada D’Oyen McKenna said: “Prosper Global authentically represents our people, purpose and values — and reflects our fundamental belief that when every community can prosper, humanity moves forward together.
“This new identity signals our determination to accelerate community-led solutions and deliver transformational progress at a time when needs are outpacing available resources, traditional models of international cooperation are under strain and barriers to prosperity are multiplying.”
Emmaus rebrands
Homelessness charity Emmaus recently revealed new visual branding after consulting its beneficiaries, staff, trustees, volunteers, supporters and members of the public over a three-year period.
Chief executive Charlotte Talbott said the new logo and other branding changes would “help us better communicate who we are and the impact we have”.
“Our new look reflects the warmth of our communities and the strength of our movement,” she said.
“It will help more people discover Emmaus, understand what we do, and support our life-changing work.”
The charity spent in the region of £50,000 developing the brand with agency Spencer Du Bois, including funding the signage across its network of 30 sites.
Meanwhile, Suffolk-based environmental charity Natural Habitat also recently rebranded with pro-bono support from agency WMH&I.
