Macmillan Cancer Support announces £3m corporate partnership with owners of Argos

Macmillan has today announced that it is launching a two-year partnership with Home Retail Group, which owns retailers Argos, Homebase and Habitat, which aims to raise £3m.

Macmillan has today announced that it is launching a two-year partnership with Home Retail Group, which owns retailers Argos, Homebase and Habitat, which aims to raise £3m.

The partnership has launched with a ‘Go Mad Go Green’ fundraising day in offices and stores across the UK.

Macmillan was chosen as a charity of the year in a vote by the employees of Home Retail Group, with all the money raised in the first 12 months going towards funding Macmillan nursing care for those with cancer.

Home Retail Group will also become involved in events such as Night In and World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, as well as running “bespoke fundraising events” that will be linked to key, seasonal trading period for the business.

Lynda Thomas, chief executive of Macmillan, said: “Our year one fundraising target of £1.5m could pay for over 55,500 Macmillan nursing hours, enabling us to provide a phenomenal amount of dedicated and specialised cancer care.”

Amy Whidburn, head of corporate responsibility at Home Retail Group said: “We look forward to getting involved and supporting the business and our 47,000 colleagues over the next two years to help us reach our ambitious target for Macmillan.”
