Shelter and mortgage provider Legal & General have expanded their fundraising partnership by launching Brokering Change, a scheme which asks brokers to donate a small fee every time they complete a procurement.

Following a soft launch in June, the scheme saw all 50 of the Financial Planning Group offices sign up to offer a suggested £1 donation from every procurement fee they receive for each completed mortgage. Yesterday the scheme was launched across England and Scotland.

In return for their donation, brokers are offered certified membership of the scheme, use of the Brokering Change logo for use on their website and paper communications, their company logo on the Shelter website and regular updates on where the money is being spent.

Shelter entered a fundraising partnership with Legal & General in 2009 and in the first year raised £100,000 through corporate donations, employee engagement and awareness-raising. The company has also donated time and expertise to Shelter. The latest incarnation of their fundraising efforts seeks to raise money for "the hundreds of thousands of people across the country living in fear of eviction or repossession and those without a home to call their own".

Campbell Robb, chief executive of Shelter said: "We are extremely grateful for Legal & General's support over the last two years and are thrilled to be launching this exciting new scheme with them.

"At Shelter we know only too well how many people are facing a daily struggle to keep a roof over their head and how many more have lost their home altogether. The money raised through this scheme will make a real difference, ensuring we can help as many people as possible in these difficult times."
