Labour MP Alun Michael has been elected chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the community and voluntary sector.

Labour MP Alun Michael has been elected chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the community and voluntary sector.

Michael will replace Tom Levitt, who stepped down at the general election.

Michael said: “Voluntary and community organisations are at the forefront of the political agenda and face a number of unprecedented challenges. I look forward to working with colleagues across the political spectrum to throw a spotlight on the key issues affecting the sector.

"I’m delighted that we were able to welcome new MPs from the Conservative, Liberal-Democrat and Labour Parties who attended the first meeting of the new Parliament. I am encouraged to think that we will have a significant influx of new members to the group.”
