Online giving platform JustGiving has launched a campaign to encourage Twitter users to share causes they care about, with support from celebrities ranging from Katie Price to Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

The #ICare campaign was launched last Tuesday with former glamour model Price tweeting her support of Vision Charity. Price, whose oldest child Harvey is blind, shared a picture of her hands in a heart shape, in support of the charity which raises money for blind and visually impaired children.

Other celebrities involved include Strictly Come Dancing judge, Arlene Phillips, who tweeted her support of the Alzheimer’s Society of which she is chief patron and X-factor guest judge Sinitta who tweeted her support of the Diana Award.

News anchor Krishnan Guru-Murphy tweeted his support of the Duchenne Children's Trust – a charity working to find a cure for children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The campaign is intended to drum up support for charities in the run up to Giving Tuesday, a global day of fundraising on December 2.

Charles Wells, chief marketing officer at JustGiving, said: “With just a month to go until Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving, we’re encouraging people to publically share the causes they care about.

“By showing they care on Twitter, together we can help causes to reach more people, inspire more action and raise more money. We hope that the #ICare campaign gives UK charities a boost as we enter the season of giving.”

JustGiving recently re-launched as a social platform for giving, allowing people to see what their friends are doing for the causes they care about.

Twitter users are being encouraged to join the campaign by copying a sample tweet and updating it with their chosen charity, along with a picture of themselves making a heart shape with their hands.
