The full programme for the conference, which promotes good practice in charity governance, is now available.

Julia Unwin, the outgoing chief executive of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, who is due to chair the Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society, will be opening conference on 27 April 2017 by speaking about the role of the board in achieving transformational growth.

Unwin has over 30 years’ experience in the charity sector, and has held an impressive list of roles including being a member of the Charity Commission’s board, as well as director of Homeless Network, and chair of the Refugee Council.

Sir Stephen Bubb, who stepped down as chief executive of Acevo earlier this year, will be closing the conference with a discussion on whether charity governance is in crisis. He will be introducing the premise of the newly launched Charity Futures Programme, which he founded, and discussing the effectiveness of governance and leadership in the sector.

Other sessions taking place throughout the day include those led by Stephen Dunmore, interim chief executive of the Fundraising Regulator on the shifting sands of fundraising, and John Williams, vice chair of the Association of Chairs, on beating boredom in the boardroom.

Sarah Atkinson, director of policy and communications at the Charity Commission, will be discussing engaging with regulator in the digital age, and Jack Lundie, director of communications at Oxfam GB, will be discussing dealing with disaster.
