Barnardo’s has closed its investigation into allegations about  Javed Khan’s involvement in an armed land dispute having “found no evidence to substantiate” them.

Barnardo’s has closed its investigation into allegations about, Javed Khan’s, involvement in an armed land dispute, having “found no evidence to substantiate” them.

In a statement this afternoon, Barnardo’s said: “Barnardo’s investigation has found no evidence to substantiate the allegations published in the Mail on Sunday (and repeated in other press) and trustees are now anticipating him joining the charity as CEO on 1 May 2014.”

In January the Mail on Sunday published allegations about an incident relating to a land dispute involving Javed Khan, who is currently chief executive at Victim Support and had already been appointed chief executive at Barnardo’s. Khan denied the allegations, particularly that he had threatened anyone or that any of his associates had been armed. Both charities opened investigations.

Victim Support closed its investigation on 27 February, and also concluded that there was no evidence to back up the allegations.

Khan said: “I understand that Barnardo’s trustees needed to look into these allegations to their satisfaction and I have supported them in doing so. I am very pleased that this matter is now resolved. Going forwards, my focus is on preparing to lead the charity to meet its purpose of transforming the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children.”
