The Institute of Fundraising has appointed Simon Morrison as its first director of marketing and communications to provide more direction.

Morrison said: “The Institute was looking for someone to come in and kick-start marketing and communications in a new more professionalised way.”

Previously head of stakeholder communications for the Home Office, Morrison has been appointed on a six-month contract at the Institute.

Morrison has experience as head of communications at the Royal College of Midwives, the National Trust and Westminster City Council.

The Institute is currently in the process of recruiting a new chief executive following the resignation of Amanda McLean in March. Morrison will report to acting CEO Bruce Leeke in the meantime.
