The Information Commissioner’s Office is holding a free webinar for charities to explain its updated guidance on direct marketing.

The webinar will take place between 2pm and 3pm on Thursday 14 April and will explain in more depth its recent updates to its direct marketing guidance for charities. The ICO made the update to its Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations on Direct Marketing in March.

The updates to the guidance are focused on the fundraising sector and include guidance on screening donorbases against the Telephone Preference Service and issues around explicit consent and opt-in.

The webinar will focus on the changes made specifically for not-for-profit organisations and charities and will be hosted by Andy Curry, group enforcement manager and Ian Inman, senior policy officer. They will “talk through examples” of how the updates will affect the sector in practice, and there will also be “an opportunity to submit questions throughout the presentation”.

Registration for the free webinar is available here.
