Harrow Association of Voluntary Services (HAVS) is being investigated by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) following concerns raised by HAVS’ auditors.

The investigation has led to Harrow Council, who called in PWC for the investigation, to temporarily suspending funding of £92,000 to the charity.

A Harrow Council spokesman said: "Our number one priority is to make sure that council taxpayers' money is being properly spent and gives value-for-money for all services - including those delivered through the voluntary sector.

"With the full agreement of the HAVS trustees and the Charity Commission, PriceWaterhouseCoopers are carrying out a thorough investigation. This includes the financial documents and interviews with key individuals in order to ascertain the facts.

"Due to the original concerns raised by HAVS' auditor, we will need to discuss the PWC findings with the Charity Commission before publishing the recommendations.

"The sooner we can do this the better for all concerned."

HAVS declined to comment.
