Government updates grants guidance

05 Jul 2018 News

The Cabinet Office has published updated grants guidance, setting out how government departments are expected to award and manage funding they hand out.

Its standards have been rebranded as The Government Functional Standard for General Grants, having initially been known as Minimum Standards.

The ten minimum standards “remain the same as published in 2016” and the government announcement said that revised guidance offers “providing additional advice and support for grant makers”.

It will next be revised in 2019.

In the foreword to the guidance, Penny Horner-Long, deputy director of the Cabinet Office grants management function, said: “The guidance has been improved to continue to assist departments and their Arm’s Length Bodies in promoting effective grant making, and ensuring that taxpayers’ money, awarded through government grants, is properly agreed and spent.”
