Children's charity Global Care has launched a charity giving website, Pick the Bucket, which allows users to choose which projects go ahead.
Contributors are given the option to select their preferred project from a range of 'debate buckets' of the same value. Only the bucket which is filled first will receive the funding.
Not all projects are up for debate, however, with a range of small to large projects set by the charity. But donors are given the choice of whether to fund in their entirity or in collaboration with other users.
Each bucket has a time limit in which to be filled and if a user gives to a bucket that is not filled in time then the funds are returned to their account. Contributors are also sent a report explaining how the money was spent and what the outcomes were.
John White CEO said: “We want to engage people and show them in a very direct, accountable way what a huge difference their giving can make.”
Global Care funds projects for vulnerable children worldwide and examples of buckets include providing school places, basic first aid training and ploughing a field.
