The Fundraising Standards Board has kicked out and condemned fundraising company Sports 4 All after it failed to pass on the proceeds of a school fundraising event to the school.

The fundraising company was found to have not paid Colchester High School the 60 per cent of the proceeds from an event held at the school, as had been contracted. Colchester High School still has not been paid the due monies. After upholding the complaint at the third and final stage of its complaints procedure, the FRSB has referred Sports 4 All to Surrey Trading Standards for investigation.

Sports 4 All, a celebrity-based sports event company which focuses on schools, was also found to have misrepresented the quality of the event. It is understood that nearly a year-and-a-half after the January 2010 event, Colchester still has not been paid the £882.14 owed.

In a statement, the FRSB said it “condemned” the behaviour of Sports 4 All, which, at the time of adjudication had not renewed its membership of the organisation. But while company’s membership of the FRSB had lapsed the FRSB judged that Sports 4 All was still part of the scheme and as a result expelled the organisation from membership. The FRSB will send a notification to the Department for Educational Science in order to make them aware of the behaviour of Sports 4 All.

Colin Lloyd, chair of the FRSB, said: “Every time standards are contravened, it gives charities a bad name.

“Sports 4 All has left Colchester High School considerably out of pocket. This is inexcusable and the company can no longer be part of the FRSB’s regulatory scheme.”

The school was left to fund the gap left by Sports 4 All non payment, which reportedly drew complaints from several parents.
