Civil Society Media and Fundraising Magazine have released the How to Guide: Legacies, a second, legacies-focused edition of their new “How to Guide” series, which aims to educate and share knowledge between fundraisers.
Like the first edition, the second edition will also be free, with the purpose of sharing the learning as widely as possible.
Whether you are just starting out in your career as a fundraiser or working for a smaller charity with limited resources, this guide takes a deep dive into the world of legacy giving and how your organisation can engage your supporters to think about leaving a gift in their will to support your cause.
The second edition of the series features case studies from leading charities, practical exercises, and useful resources for further learning.
It will also include insight into getting buy-in for legacies across your organisation; top tips on adapting a legacy programme in line with changing consumer behaviour; creating a legacy plan from scratch at a small charity, and guidance on how to talk to supporters about legacy giving.
Learn how WaterAid harnessed the power of storytelling for TV for its legacy programme; NSPCC got everyone in their organisation to champion legacies, and Bees Abroad took learnings from bigger charities to explore legacy campaigning.
Looking ahead, the How to Guide series promises to delve deeper into specific specialisms, with future editions focusing on areas such as digital fundraising and foundations.
To coincide with Remember a Charity Week next week, Fundraising Magazine will also be publishing a legacies-special issue.
