Free governance guide for international development charities published

28 Jul 2022 News

Bond, the UK network of international development organisations, has published a free guide for trustees of international development charities based in the UK.

Written in partnership with accountancy firm Buzzacott, the guide has been created to help organisations address issues including equality, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding, securing funding and building trust with local communities

It has three main sections – culture, business models and visibility – which give an overview of the topic, and a set of key questions that trustees can address to ensure best practice within their organisation.

Stephanie Draper, chief executive at Bond, said: “From the pandemic to political and humanitarian crises around the world, international NGOs face mounting pressure.

“The sector must remain agile, and in the current climate, trustees need to rethink governance. This handbook will help them identify where change is needed so that their organisation can run as effectively as possible.”
