A foundation set up in memory of fundraising sector leader Tony Elischer was launched last night.

The Tony Elischer Foundation has been established to provide mentoring and development opportunities for fundraising professionals who are in the early stages of their careers.

Elischer, who died last year, had a long and accomplished career in fundraising and was passionate about mentoring the next generation of sector leaders.

The foundation is governed by a board of trustees, with the day-to-day running being undertaken by the foundation's director Susan Morgan, who manages the application processes, liaises with mentors and participants.

"I am extremely proud to be playing a part in carrying on delivering the things which were important to Tony and hope we can inspire, guide and support a whole new generation of innovative, challenging and successful fundraisers," Morgan said.

"Hopefully in 20 years time they will look back and acknowledge what a difference a little extra support made to them and in turn made their fundraising more successful."

The foundation is currently seeking applications and candidates can begin the five-stage selection process on the foundation’s website. The closing date is 4 September.
