Former Jewish Women’s Aid CEO ‘shocked to be asked to sign NDA’

The former chief executive of Jewish Women’s Aid (JWA), who left the role after just one month, has said she was asked to sign an NDA.

Alison Rosen succeeded Naomi Dickson, and began her role in March before leaving soon afterwards. Rosen said she was asked to sign an NDA about the circumstances of her departure from the charity.

She posted on Facebook: “I was very much aligned with the values of the organisation and the tremendous work that the charity does with women, to prevent abuse. With that in mind, I was shocked to be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement about my departure.

“Intimidating people to sign an NDA is not good practice. I am now putting this episode behind me and I am establishing an interim management and charity consultancy portfolio. I have been overwhelmed with the support I have received from close friends and colleagues and am looking forward to using my 30 years of expertise to benefit the sector.”

The charity previously said it had “parted ways” with Rosen, adding “she leaves with our thanks and very best wishes for the future”.

JWA has yet to respond to Civil Society’s request for further comment. It is currently Passover, a major Jewish holiday.

Charity Commission data for the financial year ending 31 July 2021 puts the charity’s total income at £1.1m.

The charitable purpose of JWA is the support and empowerment of women and girls who are experiencing sexual and domestic violence, in a culturally sensitive way.
