Giuseppe Iantosca, the former director of GoGen, has confirmed that he and his former business partner have incorporated a new fundraising agency and are “assessing the viability” of launching later this year.

Speaking to Civil Society News, Iantosca, whose agency closed last month with the loss of 485 jobs, said that there is no concrete start date for the new company but said it might start trading in October or November, “if at all”.

“Over the next few months we’ll be assessing the viability of a new fundraising agency in the sector. We will wait and see how best to incorporate the changes we expect will be made across the sector.

"We’re waiting to see the details of the Etherington report (set to be published in September) as it’s been said there will be proposals for changes within it that will require actioning”.

Iantosca said that if his new company does launch, it will position itself as an agency “with a fresh and radical fundraising approach within the sector” and that he and former GoGen co-founder and director Bob Metrebian will effectively be “starting from scratch”.

“At the moment, we’ve just registered a company. If and when we feel that a new agency with a fresh approach is viable in the sector then perhaps we will have a look at getting financial backing. Although, I’d doubt it. When we started GoGen, we did so without any financial backing”.

Iantosca also said that, while he wouldn’t rule out working with former GoGen employees, he “hoped that they will have moved on with their lives and found employment” as many of them had worked with GoGen a long time and have families.

Iantosca said that he hasn’t sounded out any of GoGen’s former charity clients about the new company.
