Red Bull charity Wings for Life has released a film to promote its collaboration with the energy drink’s Formula One team, driving forward the charity’s work towards curing spinal cord injuries by allowing fans to embellish racing cars with their own faces.

Red Bull Racing drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, along with team manager Christian Horner and engineer Adrian Newey, show how it’s done by racing into photo booths and having mug shots taken for the Faces For Charity campaign.

Members of the public can donate €15 (£12) and upload their own photos to the Faces For Charity website, where they will then be part of a collage on the Red Bull cars racing at this year’s British Grand Prix (6-8 July).

“These photos will come together in an extraordinary collage of over 25,000 faces on both Sebastian Vettel's and Mark Webber’s cars as they race for victory at Silverstone,” the charity explains. “Every photo entered will appear on both cars – doubling your chances of crossing the finish line and making the podium!”

Red Bull Racing will be going full throttle to match every donation made, and 100 per cent of donations will go directly to Wings for Life’s research towards a cure for spinal cord injury.

Each photo will be 15mm x 15mm, covering the entire vehicle – but Red Bull will ensure that the car is still recognisably its own, by virtue of a blue, white, yellow or red tint over the images.

Wings for Life is encouraging creativity in the photos, with pole position so far given to ideas such as an 80-year-old celebrating her birthday, a single eye in close up and a pair of stuffed sheep.
