eBay for Charity is the latest partner of Small Charity Week 2013 to announce details of its support, giving small charities the opportunity to call for donations at its checkout.

Five small charities will win the opportunity to post their fundraising message at the online retailer's checkout, prompting users to donate. eBay supported Small Charity Week last year, with its users donating £17,000 to the winning charities. This accounted for almost half of the £35,000 raised throughout the week through various initiatives.

This year eBay for Charity joins the Vodafone Foundation and SOFII in offering fundraising potential. Vodafone Foundation is offering a share of £1,000 to charities showing the best use of the JustTextGiving service, while SOFII is offering ten prizes of £50 to charities that can most effectively demonstrate best practice in fundraising.

Earlier this month SOFII announced it would also launch a dedicated section for small charities providing free resources to help showcase best practice.

Pauline Broomhead, CEO of the FSI, said:

"Our recent skills gap research has shown that fundraising is one of the key areas small charities feel they require up-skilling and support. We are therefore delighted to be working with SOFII."

On continued support from eBay, she said: "We are very excited to be working in partnership with eBay for Charity once again to provide a fantastic opportunity for small charities to not only raise funds but also their profile with a new audience."

Charities wishing to apply for the eBay for Charity fundraising competition should send a 90 character fundraising message here before 5pm on 29 May to be in with a chance of winning.

Small Charity Week was launched in 2010 by the Foundation for Social Improvement, which supports the small charity sector with free capacity-building services.
