It’s always educational and exciting to do something new. Here at Charity Finance we have very much enjoyed putting together our inaugural charity legal survey. Diane Sim weaves the analysis together, identifying the leading players in the charity legal market and the issues that are worrying their charity clients.

Many readers will also be very interested in our look at the  gender balance on charity boards. A year on from our first, groundbreaking review of the issue, Vibeka Mair discovers some progress, but that change is painfully slow among many of our largest charities.

Also in July's edition:

  • We have two FREE supplements, saving subscribers £35: The Trustee Leadership Survey, our biennial look at the governance of the largest 100 charities, and a special report on The Charity Awards 2012, which took place on 14 June.
  • Matthew Simkins and Steve Billot analyse the various stages of a charity’s life-cycle on pages 38-39, showing that failure can strike at any time.
  • Atul Patel, a senior academic at Cass Business School, urges us to take more care in ensuring that our HR recruitment decisions are right for the
    long-term.
  • David Royce shares the details of the business model adopted by CRI, a charity funded exclusively from statutory sources.
