Lord Hodgson, chair of the government taskforce that is trying to reduce the level of red tape strangling the sector, has asked Charity Trustee Networks to identify the top five regulatory burdens for charities.

Lord Hodgson, chair of the government taskforce that is trying to reduce the level of red tape strangling the sector, has asked Charity Trustee Networks to identify the top five regulatory burdens for charities.

The has a particular remit to consider the full range of burdens that fall on small civil society organisations. It will make recommendations about how red tape should be reduced, including changes to legislation or processes that are needed.  

While it is up to the taskforce to decide which particular areas it will focus on, it has said these might include: responsibilities of trustees and directors, employment law, and the contracts between government agencies and civil society organisations that provide public services.
