Spectators at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will have the chance to donate a proportion of their ticket fee to Unicef, as part of the charity’s partnership with the event.
Ticket applications will feature the opportunity to include a donation of £1, £3 or £5, with the money raised going towards helping improve the lives of babies and children in Scotland and in Commonwealth countries across the world.
This initiative will be the first opportunity for the general public to actively support the partnership between the Commonwealth Games Federation and Unicef which the charity announced in April.
Unicef UK's executive director David Bull said: “I very much hope people applying for tickets for the Glasgow 2014 Games will choose to add a donation to Unicef.
“We rely on the generosity of the public to continue our work transforming children’s lives, both in Scotland and across the Commonwealth. However much you can afford to give, be sure that your support will help to give a child a brighter future.”
Up to one million tickets for the Games will be on sale from 19 August.
