Ray Jones, head of accountancy policy at the Charity Commission, has taken voluntary redundancy and will step down in the summer after over a decade in the role.
Speaking to civilsociety.co.uk Jones said he will be leaving under the Commission’s voluntary exit scheme. He said it is likely that his role will be merged with the Commission’s operational accountancy function to save costs.
Jones, who has been at the Charity Commission since 1992, is the brains behind the current new Sorps. He has been involved in a number of Sorp developments since the mid-90s.
He said: “Now that the new Sorps are with the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) for sign-off, it’s an opportune time for me to look for pastures new.
“In terms of the future, I’m really excited about the opportunities that have presented themselves recently and I’m very much looking forward working within the charity sector later this year.”
This story had incorrectly stated that Ray Jones had been with the Charity Commission for a decade. He has in fact been there for 22 years.
