The Commission for the Compact is to publish a round-up report looking at the impact of the Compact and its possible future implementation.

The Commission for the Compact is to publish a final round-up report looking at the impact of the Compact and its possible future implementation.

The full report will be published on 21 March next year, just ten days before the Commission will close its doors following its much-contested cull by the government in the quango review last month.

Sian Sankey, policy officer at the Commission said that the report would be a "round-up of what we've learnt about the Compact over the past 15 years and how this historical context will be useful in the future" and not a "showcase of how great we are".

The report, costing £35-40,000 will be generated by an independent contractor. Looking at published literature from Commission, the Home Office, the Cabinet office and other documentation, the contractor will "assess the impact of the Compact and consider whether the Compact and associated architecture has had the intended impact as envisaged".

The renewed Compact, revised by the coalition government, is to be published later this month. The Commission laid bare its criticism of the latest Compact in its review earlier this month when it accused the coalition of "significantly weakening" the document.
