The Charity Commission has agreed to extend chief executive Sam Younger’s employment contract for a further year to the end of August 2014.
Younger was originally employed on a three-year contract which runs out at the end of this month, but Commission chair William Shawcross told the regulator’s workforce this morning that he would be staying on for an extra year.
He said: "Sam has contributed a great deal to the Commission over the past three years. I am delighted therefore that he has agreed to extend his current contract for a further year, to the end of August 2014.
“This will enable him to complete the long-term accommodation strategy and help ensure the Commission can live within its budget constraints to the end of 2015-16. He will lead the Commission’s response to any agreed recommendations arising from the current National Audit Office and Public Accounts Committee scrutiny.
"His continued presence will also assist with the full integration of the new board into the Commission over the next few months.
“We plan to advertise the post after the summer."
