Colin Lloyd, chair of the FRSB, will step down in June after three terms in the role, beginning at the inception of the organisation in 2006.

Lloyd was recruited to lead the FRSB after the Buse Commission which recommended an independent self-regulator of the fundraising sector.

The FRSB was initially hosted by the Instititute of Fundraising, with seedcorn funding from govermment and Lloyd was recruited to lead it. He planned to serve two terms as chair but was asked to stay on for a third by the board.

Lloyd said: “Charity fundraising is ever changing as it should be and I am confident that the foundations that we have laid at the FRSB will ensure that the self-regulation of fundraising will continue to be fit for purpose adapting to the changing landscape of the sector."

The outgoing chair adds that he intends to look for new opportunities in the sector after handing over to his FRSB successor in the summer.

Alistair McLean, chief executive at FRSB, said: “Colin has led the FRSB with distinction over the past nine years, ensuring that the FRSB is now on a strong financial footing and that it is fit for purpose for the future regulation of fundraising. He has also made enormous strides in ensuring that through strong independent self-regulation, the public can give with confidence.”

The FRSB will start the recruitment process for a replacement shortly.

The chair’s principal responsibilities are to provide strategic leadership and to ensure efficient and effective governance.

As such, the chair must ensure that the FRSB continues to meet its core objective of providing a strong self-regulatory framework for charity fundraising, growing public trust and confidence.

The post of FRSB chair has a three-year fixed term, with the possibility of re-election for a further three-year term.

The deadline for applications for the role of FRSB chair is 17 May, 2015.
