Civil Society Media launches bursary scheme

01 Aug 2023 Announcement

Civil Society Media is offering 10 bursary places to people with protected characteristics, giving free access to our events and publications.

This is in an aim to support the charity sector to become more reflective of the diverse communities it serves.

In a bid to try to redress some of the existing imbalances, Civil Society Media is offering 10 bursary places. Applicants will be able to choose any three items from our portfolio, providing a likely benefit of around £500.

Matthew Nolan, chief executive of Civil Society Media, said: “Charities should be leading the way when it comes to championing the benefits of a diverse community. We know that people with protected characteristics are under-represented in senior positions in the sector itself.

“We believe this is partly due to the fact that these people are not always afforded the same training and development opportunities as their counterparts. So that's why we're offering 10 bursary places, giving free access to our events and publications.”

To apply for a bursary place, you must be a person of a protected characteristic (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation) who is employed by or volunteers as a trustee for a charity.

The organisation is particularly interested in hearing from people who have never been to a Civil Society Media event before, and who may not ordinarily be able to attend.

Full details are outlined on the application form (below).
