The Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIOF) will hold its last Fundraising Convention in the summer before replacing it with a “more flexible, affordable and practical” events offer next year.

In place of the flagship convention, CIOF plans to hold two one-day events in 2027: the Fundraising Summit, focused on leadership, strategy and the future of the profession, and Fundraising in Action, focused on practical skills and development.

CIOF announced the decision today after consulting its members, partners and the sector, and said the move was “not about stepping back from events or professional development”.

The membership body said the change reflected a view that fundraising learning should be more accessible and closely aligned to how fundraisers work throughout the year.

Ceri Edwards, executive director of engagement at CIOF, said of the relaunch: “We’ve listened carefully to feedback from our members, our volunteer groups, delegates, sponsors and the wider sector.

“What we’ve heard clearly is that while Fundraising Convention has been hugely valued, many fundraisers now need something more flexible, affordable and practical that fits around the realities of modern working life.

“That’s why we’re evolving our events offer by building a more connected, year-round programme of learning, leadership and professional development that brings together UK-wide and national events, local activity through our groups, training and digital opportunities.”

CIOF’s final Fundraising Convention is being held on 4-5 June in London, with standard in-person tickets for members retailing at £420 per day.
