Chief executive leaves charity after nine years

Sonia Chhatwal, chief executive of DHL UK Foundation, is leaving the charity after over nine years at the helm. 

During her time there, she developed and led the foundation’s first strategic plan and increased DHL staff engagement in the foundation’s activities from 50 in 2014 to over 700 in 2022. 

She will join the Rigby Foundation as its executive director on 4 September. The £3m charity was registered in 1992 and provides grants to causes related to health, learning and education. 

Chhatwal has over 25 years’ experience of business experience. She is founder of the Women Leaders of Corporate Foundations Network, which has over 30 members. 

She previously worked in senior positions at the charities Vodafone UK Foundation and Connect Reading.  

Chhatwal said of her appointment: “I am very much looking forward to working with the trustees to develop and implement the foundation’s first strategy and to build on the fantastic support already provided to a wide variety of causes and communities in need.”

The Rigby Group said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sonia Chhatwal as executive director of the Rigby Foundation. Sonia will work closely with the Rigby family trustees to build on the great work already achieved by the charity for more than 30 years.”
