The Charity Commission has announced the names of the sports and recreation charities that will be involved in its last round of public benefit assessments, which have included religious, art and fee-charging charities.

Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust, Tintagel Memorial Playing Fields Association, Birmingham City FC Football in the Community and the Radlett Lawn Tennis and Squash Club will be reviewed by the Charity Commission over the coming months.

A Commission spokeswoman said it expected to publish a report on public benefit and sports and recreations charities in around 6 months.

Commission research shows that charities involved in sport and recreation are one of the most likely groups to be unaware about public benefit requirements.
