The free afternoon event will be held at the Birmingham and Midland Institute on 24 May. Charity Commission chair Dame Suzi Leather and chief executive Sam Younger will speak during the first half about the regulator’s work, followed by an update on the initial findings of the Commission’s review programme, undertaken in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Financial controls in charities will be the focus of the second half of the event, including an overview by National Fraud Authority CEO Stephen Harrison of the latest charity sector fraud statistics. The Commission will also outline its new strategy for tackling fraud and financial crime.
