A Go On UK partnership with Microsoft that provides refurbished computers has teamed up with a broadband comparison site to include an internet package in its offering.

GetOnline@Home has now partnered with the broadband comparison company Simplifydigital to provide a range of broadband deals starting from £2.99 per month, and is giving customers a £75 discount on refurbished PCs and laptops if they sign up this month.

The standard cost of a refurbished PC through the scheme is £99 for charities and those on benefits, (for everyone else it is £149), meaning that until the end of this month charities can receive a PC for £24. From July the discount on hardware when taking out a broadband package will be £50. Refurbished laptops are available to charities for £149.

Go On UK and Microsoft launched the GetOnline@Home initiative in 2011 and since then has supplied more than 23,000 computers across the UK.

Martha Lane-Fox, founder of Go On UK said: “With the cost of internet access cited as a key reason for not being online, this is an incredible saving and will transform the lives of everyone that hasn’t been able to get online before. With so much online now, from paying bills and banking to job applications, connecting with people and getting the very best deals, being online is no longer a nice to have, it is an essential.”
