More than half of charities believe that companies have a declining interest in charity of the year-style partnerships, according to the results of Fundraising's Corporate Partnerships Survey 2012.
The survey, published in November’s Fundraising magazine and on civilsociety.co.uk, gauged the opinions and experience of more than 100 charities and found that one in eight felt companies are “far less interested” in these type of partnerships, and a further 41.9 per cent believed companies are “slightly” less interested. A significant minority – a third – believe there has been no change in company appetite for charity partnerships at all.
This result is one of a number pulled out by the annual report, which asked charities about their experiences of their largest corporate partnership of the previous year. The report also found a slight year-on-year decline in the number of partnerships which involve actual cash donations. Non-financial gifts, like gifts in kind and staff volunteering, are involved in more than half of all partnerships, and a further third of partnerships involved the donation of pro bono skills.
For the first time Fundraising asked charities what they were expected to deliver as part of the partnership, and unsurprisingly three quarters of charities had to deliver publicity for the company and nearly two-thirds had to facilitate fundraising activities. Less expected was the fact that in a quarter of all partnerships, charities were required to offer networking opportunities for staff and management.
