The CfBT Education Trust has announced it will change its name to Education Development Trust and will also move its head office at the same time.

The charity said it had decided to change its name to make it clearer what it did.

The new name was chosen following a consultation with the charity’s staff, clients and partners and will come into effect from 1 January 2016.

CfBT chief executive, Steve Munby said: “What hasn’t changed is our ethos, our heritage, our expertise and our experience”.

“From my years of experience in leading school system reform, I know there is no single solution. That is why clients call on the combined expertise of Education Development Trust to deliver the outcomes they and every child needs."

A statement by the charity said the new name would better reflect “what matters to us and what we do to bring about change”.

“We know that a name is a signature, not an autobiography, but we hope you agree that Education Development Trust gives a better first impression of what we do,” the charity said.

The charity began in 1968 as the Centre for British Teachers, supplying teachers of English in Germany, and changed to CfBT Education Trust as the charity expanded to other areas.

The head office address will change from 21 December 2015.
