Breast Cancer Now has announced that Catherine Miles, current director of fundraising at Anthony Nolan, will join the organisation in June.

Breast Cancer Now has announced that Catherine Miles, current director of fundraising at Anthony Nolan, will join the organisation in June.

In a statement released yesterday, Breast Cancer Now confirmed that Miles (pictured) would be joining the charity as its new director of fundraising on the 6th of June. Prior to joining Breast Cancer Now, Miles worked for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan for the last seven years.

In her time with Anthony Nolan, Miles tripled the charity’s net income, implemented a relationship fundraising approach, built a regular giving programme from nothing and saw the charity named as the official charity partner for the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon.

Prior to her work with Anthony Nolan, Miles was deputy director of fundraising at Shelter and was head of grants fundraising at Mencap.

Speaking about her new appointment, Miles said: “I’m delighted to be joining Breast Cancer Now. It’s a real time of opportunity for the charity; following the merger of its two legacy organisations, its pioneering work is being built on the enormous generosity of so many wonderful supporters and sector-leading partners.”

Jen Dougan, who was Breast Cancer Now's first director of fundraising, is moving back to consultancy.

Two roles merge to replace Miles at Anthony Nolan

According to a spokeswoman from Anthony Nolan, Miles will be replaced by Richard Davidson as part of a merger between the organisation’s once disparate communications, marketing and fundraising departments.

Davidson has been appointed as the director of engagement at the charity. The new role will see Davidson take on additional responsibility for fundraising, including corporate partnerships, community fundraising and challenge events alongside his existing work load as director of communications and marketing.

Henny Braund, chief executive of Anthony Nolan, said: “We are delighted to appoint Richard as Director of Engagement at Anthony Nolan. Richard has done an incredible job of leading the communications and marketing division and I know he will be just as effective as he takes on our fundraising work.

“Catherine Miles left us with a very firm foundation to build on and this is an exciting opportunity to integrate our supporter-facing work even further.”
